Here at Tufting London we believe everyone can create something amazing. All you need is enthusiasm to try something new!
We're London's first professional tufting workshop, and we're here to guide you through the process of creating your dream rug together with the experienced tufters at our Nine Elms workshop.
We think that beauty lies in the imperfections, so you won’t find factory-perfect rugs here. Instead, every rug is unique, and handmade by YOU! Whether you’re looking for some me time, an interesting date idea, a gift with a twist, or the perfect birthday party, Tufting London offers a variety of workshops to suit your needs.
One of our founders Chun first had his eyes opened to the world of rug making when he visited a factory, but decided that the real excitement lay in the handmade when he turned his 4 year old son’s drawing into a tufted art piece to hang on the wall in his home. The ‘Rainbow Racing Car’ has become a treasured family memento and never fails to bring a smile to Chun’s son’s face!

What to expect
But what is tufting?
Tufting is a way of rug making, it’s easy and fun to do! You don’t need to worry about anything, we will provide you with all the materials you need and walk you through the basics of tufting in our workshop.
Your design will be drawn on the fabric canvas and ready at your workspace for the beginning of the workshop. Our workshop will start by learning how to operate the tufting gun. Using the tufting gun, you will shoot out colourful yarn threads into the primary fabric canvas. You will have some time to practice before you start tufting your fluffy art piece. You will learn the technique to tuft and start tufting from bottom to top, this will also help you see the direction you are tufting towards. Once you feel ready to start tufting the main rug, you will see how easy it is and hopefully this will be a perfect opportunity to relax and create something beautiful and meaningful.
Our tutors will be there to guide you throughout the process, and make sure you are able to finish on time to take your rug home at the end of the workshop. Once you are done with tufting, you will cut out the piece you made, fold in the edges and add the backing fabric using a special glue to finish your rug!
